黄 胄 1925年3月生于河北蠡县，后迁居西安。早年参加革命，任西北军区战士读物出版社编辑。1942年任蠡县中学美术教员。1946年任陕西省西安雍华图书杂志社主编。1949年5月参加中国人民解放军从事部队美术工作，任西北军区政治部文化创作员，美术组组长。1955年任总政治部文化部创作员。1959年，任中国人民革命军事博物馆美术公司顾问。1981年任中国画研究院副院长。中国著名的艺术家，第六、七届全国政协委员，第八届全国政协常务委员，原轻工业部工艺美术公司顾问，中国美术家协会常务理事。
Huang Zhou was born in Lixian County, Hebei Province in March, 1925 and then moved to Xi'an. He joined revolution when he was young, serving as an editor with the Northwest Military Area Command Soldier's Reading Material Publishing House. In 1942, he taught in Renli County Middle School as an art teacher. In 1946, he became an editor of Shaanxi Xi'an Yonghua Book and Magazine Publishing House. Huang joined the P.L.A in May, 1949 and painted for the army before he was appointed as the leader of the Art Group of the Northwest Military Area Command Political Department. From 1955 to 1981, he served as an art creator of the Cultural Department of the General Political Department, a consultant of the Art Company of the Military Museum of the Chinese People's Revolution and Vice-President of Academy of Chinese Painting successively. Besides, he was also a famous Chinese artist, a member of the 6th, 7th and 8th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, a consultant of the former Arts & Crafts Company of the Light Industry Department and Standing Director of Chinese Artists Association.
